Pianist
Nathalie Matthys is a classically trained pianist and jazz-singer with ample experience as a soloist, chamber musician, lead singer and collaborator. Her core mission is to connect people through and share the beauty of classical music, jazz, original compositions and arrangements in an intimate setting. Together with American clarinetist Josef Lamell, she is a proud founding member of the Duo Lamell-Matthys. After finishing her Master’s degree in classical piano performance summa cum laude, Nathalie continued at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in 2019 for double major studies in classical piano and jazz vocal, with the support of Fulbright, SWUK, Stichting Mitialto and Rotary-Kortrijk Groeninghe. Since then, Nathalie has developed an interest in Estill Vocal Technique, has devoted more time to write arrangements and original songs and has worked as a lyricist for music by Aaron Parks and Marc Matthys. On a regular basis, Nathalie produces a series of shorts, music videos and vlogs which are all available in early access on Patreon and shared on Youtube and Instagram afterwards. Her videos are closely linked to her mission by sharing short #peacefulmoments, #tipoftheweek, vlogs on musicianship and personal growth, and a mix of classical music, jazz, originals and covers.
Nathalie also has experience as an MC in English, Dutch and German and takes great pleasure in connecting with her audience by providing more information on the pieces, the composers and their background.
